Joe Reinsel has composed digital audio-visual works of art that have been shown and performed in England, Scotland, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Baltimore, and other venues on the east coast. Reinsel's pieces involve live improvised audio and video(MAX/MSP/Jitter, NATO) using selected samples taken from field recordings. His last few compositions have been personal reflections on the precariousness of nature. Reinsel has an M.F.A. in Electronic Arts from iEAR Studios, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.A. in Music composition and Music technology from Radford University. Along with his own creative work he has collaborated with Jin Hi Kim, Bay Atlantic Symphony, Leroy Jenkins, Mary Griffin, McLean Mix, Johns Hopkins Symphony, Elizabeth Streb, and Ralf Nunn. He is Digital Audio Specialist at the Brown Foundation Digital Media Center at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. where he teaches workshops in digital media.
