Taryn FitzGerald is a video artist living in Brooklyn. She received a BFA in Studio Art from Carnegie Mellon University in 1984, and then worked as a graphic designer while pursuing photographic projects. In 1994, she studied at lpEcole Supérieure dpart Visuel in Geneva, Switzerland, where she began working in video. In 1996, she received an MFA, as well as the Paula Rhodes Memorial Award, from the School of Visual Arts, Photography and Related Media Department. Her videos have been shown in exhibitions and festivals in NYC, including screenings at Art in General, The Knitting Factory, and Anthology Film Archives. Her work was included in The 32nd Annual NY Exposition of Short Film and Video last year. She has received awards and grants for her video work- most recently from The Alternative Museum, and The Experimental Television Center. Currently, she is an instructor of digital video at the School of Visual Arts.
